Susan Backman, LMT, CMLDT

I began my studies at Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Westport, CT during the very beginning of 2001, where I was awarded a diploma from the Clinical Massage Therapy Program as well as a Certification of Excellence in recognition of Excellence in Community Service by the School administration.

The Clinical Massage Therapy Program is an intensive program, spanning 1040 hours of instruction over a 24 month period (well above state requirements). In addition to the massage therapy and science classes, the program also has extensive courses in Eastern modalities including Acupressure (shiatsu), Business Practices, and Ethics,

I have represented the school as a course tutor in; Anatomy and Physiology I, II & III, Palpation, Clinical Pathology, Kinesiology, East-West Pathology and Neurology.  I have also officiated as a course assistant in numerous Discovery Workshops at the Westport, CT school, as well as a course assistant in Anatomy and Physiology I and II, as well as Discovery Workshop instructor on numerous occasions in Westport CT, Newington CT and Groton CT.

With hard work, determination, and the help of wonderful people,
Connecticut Therapeutic Massage was born during the dawn of 2003.

I am honored and humbled to say, I have worked with professional athletes, professional musicians, moms, dads, newborns, teens, heads of corporations, and I have even been under contract to work on site at a movie set, for a lead actor.   I have worked closely with many doctors, as well as workman's comp, integrating the work they do, with the care the client needs as well.

I am proficient in dozens of modalities, and hold advanced sudies in many.  Some of which being advanced cervical massage, canine massage, Reiki I & II, Biotone SPA, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus,  Understanding Alternative Medicine,
and my newest accomplishment:

Internationally Board Certified
Manual Lymph Drainage
 Therapist

I have spent many years working in leadership roles, including town beautification programs, women's issues, child welfare issues, scouting and cheerleading.

In my practice, I integrate the daily activities of my clients with their crave of relaxation by studying ergonomics and posture in an effort to help alleviate overuse/misuse strain on the body.

I enjoy what I do, and fully look forward to hearing from my clients after their session.  I'm honored to know I have played a small part in people moving through pain or gain some much needed relaxation.
